How Good Are You With Change?

Issue #15

While some people prefer to live in a place that’s warm and sunny all year round, I absolutely love the changing seasons. Over the past few weeks I have been taking a little extra time to appreciate the changing leaves on my afternoon walk with my dog. And I have made two trips to Valley Forge National Park to capture the beauty of the fall transformation at its peak with my real camera (if you read my last issue, this falls into the category of fun/relaxing for me).

Personally, I find the changing seasons beautiful to witness and welcome them with open arms (especially after a hot and humid Philadelphia summer), which led me to consider how we approach change in other areas of our lives.

And as a result, this week’s lesson emerged …

Get Good With Change

While many of us hold onto “what is” for dear life, in truth, the only constant in life is change. Time moves forward and the world around us is in a continuous state of evolution. And yet, we often resist it.

What would happen if we adjusted our approach to change and welcomed it like the changing of the seasons?

The subtitle of my book was intentional – “… Women on the Rise” … and was chosen to remind us that we always have the opportunity to grow and evolve. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be the same person next year that I was this year… and that means I have to be willing to change and to accept change.

For me it starts with self-awareness and identifying the areas in my life where there’s room for improvement or where I’m being pushed to do more (goodbye comfort zone). Then it requires commitment and an openness to the process.

Is there an area in your life where you’ve been resisting change? And can you identify the why behind it?

Now might be the time to change your mindset on change from “what is” to “what could be…” Something spectacular could be waiting for you on the other side if you’re willing to make the shift.

With you on the journey…
