How Strong Are Your Relationships?

Issue #26

I’m still easing my way into this new year, and I hope you are as well. I started with what wasn’t coming with me into 2025, and now I’m switching gears to what I want to focus on more in the months ahead – which lead me to this week’s lesson.

Focus on Communication & Relationships

I know I mentioned this somewhere else before, so forgive me if you’ve heard this story from me already…. When my daughter started kindergarten, the head of the school said the most sought after trait when her generation hits the workforce will be communication skills. She’s a junior in college now… 😜

Given the pace at which technology is advancing, AI becoming mainstream, and less and less of a need for humans to complete a whole slew of tasks and jobs, it makes total sense. They’ve all grown up with tech at their fingertips, but how good are they at face to face conversations?

At the end of the day, despite all of the amazing and time-saving advances, humans will always need other humans. We need relationships, connection, and community. ❤️

So as we head into the new year, where you may have made a note to learn more about tech and AI, I’m encouraging you not to forget about the importance of communication and relationships. In the end, people do business with other people, and employees prefer to work for people who see and value their contributions.

Maybe it’s time to rekindle some old connections or make some new ones as well. Either way, those with the strongest connections, to their own people and teams, and to others outside of their organization as well will be the ones who have the support they need to navigate the new year ahead.
