Start The New Year With A Clean Desk
Issue #23
I hope you had a lovely holiday and are taking some time to relax before the start of the New Year. I wanted to share a quick productivity tip with you in the event that you’re like me and look forward to a few half days of uninterrupted work over the “holiday break.” 😂 What can I say, the creative entrepreneur in me has a hard time taking more than a few days off completely, unless I’m on a beach somewhere with a good book.
If you do find yourself at your desk before we ring in the New Year, do yourself a favor and declutter your desk and your computer desktop. I was at my office desk today waiting on FedEx to deliver the paychecks for the painting company, and after completing a few other year end to do’s, decided to clean up my desktop while I was waiting. I’m usually pretty good about clutter, but since I don’t sit at that desk as often or for as long anymore, I let it get away from me.
But a mere fifteen minutes later, all of the loose “files” were tucked away in the appropriate folders (so I can find them again easily when I need them) and I breathed a big sigh of relief. When the clutter builds up, we tend to get used to it, but don’t realize how much it bogs us down until we straighten it all up again. And there’s nothing like the start of a New Year to give you a reason to clean up your desk and desktop. Your brain will thank you for it every time you sit down to work and aren’t overwhelmed with files.
Here’s to an amazing New Year ahead, and getting off to a fresh and clean start.
With you on the journey…
