Trade Your Resolutions In For Intentions Instead

Issue #24

Happy New Year!! 🎉 I hope the transition from one year to the next was a smooth and gentle one. And I hope you took some time off to exhale before jumping into 2025 with both feet.

While this is the time of year that resolutions are all abuzz, if you haven’t set yours yet, or are looking for a way to reframe things this year, here’s a suggestion.

Years ago, I switched from resolutions to intentions, and the start of each New Year is no longer a stressful or pressure-filled time for me. Resolutions tend to center around things that we don’t want to do anymore, while intentions focus on what we do want and will do. That simple shift from negative to positive can make all of the difference in creating new habits at the start of a new year, or anytime of year really.

So instead of making a list of “I won’ts” try making a list of “I wills”, and then set the intention to see it through. And remember to be gentle with yourself in those first few days and weeks. Breaking old habits and creating new ones takes time and a little bit of grace. You’ll be surprised however, how quickly a new habit can become just “part of the routine” if you stick with it past that first hurdle (even if you happen to knock that hurdle over).

Here’s to leaving the past behind and a new year filled with possibilities, opportunities, and abundance in every of your life. ❤️

With you on the journey…
