Where Does Learning Rank For You?
Issue #9
I’ve always considered myself a life-long learner, and after taking my own assessment at the start of my certification training, it turns out I’m “hard wired” that way. When looking at my Driving Forces (an assessment that uncovers the why behind what motivates you) my drive for knowledge came in at #1….
… which brings me to this week’s lesson….
Never Stop Learning
While your drive for new knowledge may not rank as high as mine, learning something new on a regular and ongoing basis has been proven to help keep your mind sharp and fresh.
Going back to school online (a first for me) challenged me to reconsider the way I learn, expanded my ability to adapt and adjust, and reconfirmed that teacher-led is still my preferred method. And if I’m reading non-fiction I prefer a hard cover book so I can highlight and annotate to my heart’s delight.
How do you learn best?
In our current age of technology and with multiple mediums to choose from, there is no shortage of new knowledge to be gained. And no excuse not to delve deeper into something that intrigues or fascinates you.
This week I’m encouraging you to choose a topic that interests you, personally or professionally, then choose the medium that works best for you and dip your toe into the pool. You may choose to stick to the shallow end, or you may find yourself slowing going deeper and deeper.
Anywhere in between is enough to expand your horizons and potentially provide an opportunity utilize the knowledge to better yourself or those around you. Or maybe you’ll just become really great at trivia games. 😂 Either way, the more you know, the farther you’ll go.
What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn more about?
And more importantly, what’s keeping you from diving in?
Maybe it’s time to take the leap.
